The studies behind the ingredients in anvone products
Calcium akg
Alpha-Ketoglutarate: Physiological Functions and Applications
type: Review
authors & year: Wu, N., Yang, M., Gaur, U., et al. (2016)
journal: Biomolecules & Therapeutics
results: AKG is an important source of glutamate and glutamine. This helps muscles build protein and slows protein breakdown. It plays a key role in making collagen, which helps build bone tissue. A newer study showed that AKG helped the worm C. elegans live longer. It did this by slowing ATP synthase and the TOR pathway, 2 key controls of aging.
Creatine
Effects of Creatine Supplementation on Brain Function and Health.
type: Review
authors & year: Forbes, S. C., Cordingley, D. M., Cornish, S. M., et al. (2022)
journal: Nutrients
results: Creatine plays a key role in how your brain makes energy. Taking creatine can raise creatine levels in the brain. This may help thinking on hard tasks, like memory and reasoning tests. The effect was strongest under stress, such as lack of sleep or low oxygen.
Effects of Creatine Supplementation on Renal Function: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
type: Meta-analysis
authors & year: de Souza e Silva, A., Pertille, A., Reis Barbosa, C. G., et al. (2019)
journal: Journal of Renal Nutrition
results: This meta-analysis looked at how creatine affects the kidneys. The authors reviewed 15 studies, and 6 went into the pooled analysis. Creatine did not clearly change blood levels of creatinine or urea. The authors conclude that creatine, in the amounts and time frames studied, does not harm the kidneys.
International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand: safety and efficacy of creatine supplementation in exercise, sport and medicine.
type: Statement - Review
authors & year: Kreider, R. B., Kalman, D. S., Antonio, J., et al. (2017)
journal: Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition
results: This paper sums up the large body of research on creatine. It confirms creatine as one of the most effective supplements for athletes. It helps performance in short, intense exercise and helps build lean mass. The ISSN states that short- and long-term use of creatine monohydrate is safe for healthy people. It found no harmful effects on the kidneys. The paper also points to a possible role for creatine in recovery after exercise.
Creatine monohydrate for lean mass, strength, and bone density in postmenopausal women: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
type: Meta-analysis
authors & year: Naddafha, S., Antonio, J., Kreider, R. B., Stout, J. R. (2026)
journal: Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition
results: This meta-analysis pooled 7 randomized, placebo-controlled trials with 608 women after menopause (average age 62). Women who took creatine and did strength training built more muscle and more strength than women on a placebo, about 16 lb (7.5 kg) more on the leg press. The effect showed up at 5 g of creatine a day combined with strength training. Bone density did not change. Side effects were mild and similar to placebo.
L-theanine
Effects of l-theanine on cognitive function in middle-aged and older subjects: A randomized placebo-controlled study
type: Human study (randomized, placebo-controlled)
authors & year: Baba, Y., Inagaki, S., Nakagawa, S., et al., 2021
journal: Journal of Medicinal Food
results: A single dose of L-theanine improved attention, working memory and planning skills (executive function) in adults aged 50 to 69. This points to a positive effect on thinking.
L-theanine, a natural constituent in tea, and its effect on mental state
type: Review
authors & year: Nobre, A. C., Rao, A., & Owen, G. N., 2008
journal: Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition
results: This study used EEG (a test that measures electrical activity in the brain). It compared 50 mg of L-theanine with a placebo. L-theanine clearly raised alpha wave activity. Alpha waves show up in the brain when you are relaxed but awake. This means L-theanine helps the mind relax and stay alert, without making you sleepy.
The effects of L-theanine consumption on sleep outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis
type: Meta-analysis
authors & year: Bulman, A., Marx, W., Turner, M., et al. (2025)
journal: Sleep Medicine Reviews
results: L-theanine clearly improved how well people said they slept. It helped most with the time it takes to fall asleep and with feeling tired during the day. The authors say more studies are needed, especially with pure L-theanine, to find the right dose and length of use.
L-glycine
Glycine and aging: Evidence and mechanisms
type: Review
authors & year: Johnson, A. A., & Cuellar, T. L., 2023
journal: Ageing Research Reviews
results: This review sums up animal studies in which glycine helped animals live longer. It likely works by copying the effects of eating less methionine (an amino acid) and by turning on autophagy (the cell's cleanup process).
Hyaluronic acid
Ingested hyaluronan moisturizes dry skin
type: Review
authors & year: Kawada, C., Yoshida, T., Yoshida, H., et al., 2014
journal: Nutrition Journal
results: This paper looks at how hyaluronic acid (HA) taken by mouth affects dry skin. It also explains how HA works, from absorption to its effect in the skin. The authors report that HA supplements at 120 mg to 240 mg a day clearly raise skin moisture and improve dry skin. Swallowed HA is absorbed, and part of it reaches the skin. There it helps the skin make new hyaluronic acid and helps fibroblasts (cells that build connective tissue) grow. This leads to better hydration and may reduce wrinkles.
Oral intake of a new full-spectrum hyaluronan improves skin profilometry and ageing: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
type: Human study (randomized clinical trial)
authors & year: Nobile, V., Buonocore, D., Michelotti, A., & Marzatico, F., 2021
journal: European Journal of Dermatology
results: After just 28 days of taking hyaluronic acid by mouth, people had clearly better skin hydration (+10.6%), shallower wrinkles (-18.8%) and more elasticity (+5.1%). The skin barrier also got stronger. The skin lost clearly less water (TEWL, a measure of water lost through the skin). This means the skin held water and protected itself better.
Vitamin c
Vitamin C and vitamin C plus E improve the immune function in the elderly
type: Clinical human study
authors & year: De la Fuente, M., Sánchez, C., Vallejo, C., et al., 2020
journal: Experimental Gerontology
results: Healthy older adults took 500 mg of vitamin C a day for 3 months, some with vitamin E too. Many immune functions clearly improved, such as how immune cells move, take in germs and how active NK cells are. They reached levels seen in young adults. Many of these gains lasted 6 months after people stopped taking the supplements.
Vitamin C supplementation promotes mental vitality in healthy young adults: results from a cross‑sectional analysis and a randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled trial
type: Randomized Controlled Trial
authors & year: Sim, M., Hong, S., Jung, S., et al., 2022
journal: European Journal of Nutrition
results: In this study, young adults with low vitamin C levels took 1000 mg of vitamin C a day for 4 weeks. Their attention and work engagement (how deeply they could focus on a task) clearly went up. Their scores on the Stroop test (a test of mental speed and focus) also improved. Mood and stress did not change.
Taurine
The Effects of an Oral Taurine Dose and Supplementation Period on Endurance Exercise Performance in Humans: A Meta-Analysis.
type: Meta-analysis
authors & year: Waldron, M., Patterson, S. D., Tallent, J., Jeffries, O. (2018)
journal: Sports Medicine
results: This meta-analysis pooled 10 studies on taurine and endurance exercise. Taurine in amounts from 1 to 6 g improved endurance performance. The effect did not depend on the dose and showed up even after a single serving.
12 hallmarks
Extending human health span and longevity—a symposium report
type: Symposium report / scientific overview
authors & year: DeVito, L. M., Barzilai, N., Cuervo, A. M., et al. (2022)
journal: Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences
results: This report sums up what leading aging researchers found. It supports the "geroscience" idea that biological aging itself can be slowed. Promising areas include the TAME study of metformin, turning on autophagy (the cell's cleanup process) and senolytics, which remove worn-out cells that no longer divide ("senescent cells"). The report also points out that mitochondrial peptides, small proteins made in your cells' energy centers, matter for metabolism and long life.
Hallmarks of aging: An expanding universe
type: Review (update)
authors & year: López-Otín, C., Blasco, M. A., Partridge, L., et al. (2023)
journal: Cell
results: This paper is the full update of the landmark 2013 work. It grows the list of hallmarks of aging from 9 to 12. New key factors include weaker autophagy (the cell's recycling process), long-term inflammation and dysbiosis (an imbalance of gut bacteria). The authors sort them into first causes of damage, responses and combined effects. This helps explain how the parts of aging work together and points to ways research might slow this process.
The Hallmarks of Aging
type: Review
authors & year: López-Otín, C., Blasco, M. A., Partridge, L., et al. (2013)
journal: Cell
results: This landmark review names 9 common signs ("hallmarks") of aging in mammals. They help explain why the body works less well with age. They are: unstable DNA, shorter telomeres, epigenetic changes, loss of protein balance, poor nutrient sensing, mitochondria that work less well, aging cells that stop dividing (senescence), worn-out stem cells and changed signals between cells. The authors sort these into first causes (damage), responses to damage and combined effects. This gives a base for future aging research.
